Buffalypso :: Performance

REPODUCTIVE

The Water Buffalo heifers at Aripo were exposed to the bull when they attained the weight of 350 kilograms. It was found that they reached this weight at 21 months of age. Over 75% of the animals exposed to the bull became pregnant.

A calving interval of 385 days has been observed 56 cows
Less than 2% still births have been observed in the herd.
There have been no observed abortions and regular Preganancy
Diagnosis (PD) checks support this observation.  
 
There has been no observed difficult calvings or dystocia.
All cows in the pasture. 10% of the dams have a tendency to hide their calves in the forested area and reappear in about three weeks
 


CALF

Calves were managed under the restricted suckling system to facilitate milking of dams and collection of milk production data. Calves were weaned at 4 months at an average weight of 80kg.
